For Sale! My Quarter Moon Postcards

Postcard close up on display at store Quarter Moon

Here they are folks! As I have blogged about before, I have created Quarter Moon Imports postcards from a painting I did of this great little shop on Lake Ella in Tallahassee, Florida. I encourage you locals to get out and check out this eclectic gift shop and hopefully buy some postcards and even some of my hand-made greeting cards. And for all of you readers and art lovers, I hope you enjoy the art. I am including a few photos of the postcards and the outside of the shop, too. I am happy to say this is the first time one of my paintings has been chosen to represent a business and am very proud!

Venues for my Greeting Cards!

Starting the end of last year and the beginning of this new year, I am selling my greeting cards in two new gift shops! One being Quarter Moon Imports, an eclectic little shop on Lake Ella in Tallahassee. The other is 621 Art Gallery Gift Shop, a popular gallery stop on the First Friday Gallery Hop in the local art district, Railroad Square. I am so happy that my art is getting out to the public in this somewhat different vehicle. So…if you can’t afford a painting…buy a greeting card! Support the arts folks!

Mini Custom Portraits for the Coast

Gulf Specimen six minis 2018

I have been working hard lately on getting mini sea life finished to be sold at locations in Panacea, on the Gulf coast. I needed to prepare sea turtles, blue crabs and seahorses for Two Blondes Liquors and Gifts. As well as more seahorses, sea turtles and a couple of manatees for Gulf Specimen Aquarium, shown above.

I always sketch the mini on a pad first. Then I transpose that sketch to the canvas. As you can see it’s not always easy to fit the animal on these very small canvases! You can also see the small tubes of paint I use from a set of a variety of 48 colors which provide a great selection of colors for me to choose from. Shown below is the finished product ready to ship south!

Minis Everywhere!

Shown above is my latest custom mini pet portrait. This is Tom, a cat who lives on 55th Street in Manhattan. I got a request to do a commission by his caregiver as a gift for his owner. Pictured on the right the woman is proudly displaying the new mini of her cat. I also have a request for another custom mini portrait, only this one’s of a dog. It’s a dachshund named Travis who passed away two weeks ago and the owner’s friend wanted to have a portrait done for his owner. Speaking of mini dogs, shown below are the four mini dogs I just finished for LeMoyne Center for the Visual Arts in Tallahassee to sell in their gift shop. Let me know if you’d like a mini of your own for yourself or a friend. Just go to my Etsy shop…see my blog menu!

Babysitting Dynamite

Here’s the next painting I am submitting to All That Jazz in Apalachicola, FL for the owner to sell. I started it during Artwalk on April 1st when I was painting in front of the gift shop but didn’t finish it. Now it’s done so I decided to post it here for all you folks to enjoy. The reference photo was taken when I was babysitting my friend, Carol’s, cat Dynamite. She has been the subject of many of my paintings since the black and white tuxedo color scheme seems to be popular with the shoppers at All That Jazz.

blogMargene Mama KItty look at My Painting

Here’s Margene, the owner of All That Jazz in Apalachicola, FL with her cat, Mama Kitty, looking at some artwork I dropped off for her to sell in her gift shop a couple of weeks ago. I have been with her the longest out of any place I’ve done business. She likes to sell my cats in all forms: minis, greeting cards, prints and paintings. My trip to this small tourist town, which is an hour away from where I live, had me dropping off paintings, having lunch with a friend and looking at the local art. Shown below are some photos including some art by Jenny Odom.

Minis on Display at LeMoyne

The other day I went into the newly remodeled LeMoyne Center for the Visual Arts Gift Shop. I was happy to see my mini cat paintings on display in a very attractive way. Shown above are four of the six cats I supplied them with. When submitting mini cats to sell anywhere, I like to include a variety of color schemes for the various cat owners out there. I usually like to include a calico and gray tabby (not shown) as well as those shown: the orange tabby, black and white tuxedo, all white and all black. Sometimes I’ll also include a spotted cat, gray and white tuxedo or a brown tabby. If you like the minis and have your own cat, I can do a custom mini pet portrait at a reasonable rate and can ship. Just go to my Etsy site. Thanks! www.etsy.com/shop/dianedyalpaintings

LeMoyne Gift Shop

lemoyne-building

Since the holidays are over, I had time to create some more minis to sell at the LeMoyne Gift Shop. I had some items there last year and when they were remodeling people were asked to hold their art until it was finished. So, now I have painted six mini (2-1/2″ square) cat portraits for the gift shop in addition to the painting greeting cards and framed illustrations left over from last year. Check out LeMoyne Center for the Visual Arts if you are in Tallahassee or go to their website www.lemoyne.org and support the arts!

More Minis, New Venue

This unusual spot on the Ochlockonee Bay on Coastal Highway in Panacea is the newest location where I sell mini sea life. The owner decided on five mini paintings, of my choosing. She has the option to choose any fish or sea creature she likes in the future and I will create it for her to sell in her store. She was very happy to have my collection added to the selection of gifts she sells. Shown below are the minis for Two Blondes Liquors and Gifts. From left to right: seahorse, dolphin fish, manatee, red fish and dolphin. I’ve still got more minis to work on!
